I participated in the Sacred Sake Tasting Event and it was amazing! It was held in a shrine with a nice
atmosphere and while tasting different kinds of rice wine and making friends with other participants, you
get to learn a lot about the history of sake, the production process, and the "categories" of sake.

Special thanks to Ms Yuss and Mr Abe for providing and holding entertainments not only for tourists but also for locals.
The most interesting sake lecture I have ever heard and read. Peaceful and fun atmosphere, new meetings and other things are waiting for you with the Edge of Niigata.

Edge of Niigata is a much-needed organization to introduce travelers and foreign residents to the unique aspects of Niigata culture! I had never heard of Niigata before moving here, but I’ve grown to love this city. I’m glad your team is sharing the Niigata love globally! Through EoN, I was able to make my own Japanese wind chime while practicing my Japanese skills. I am really looking forward to future events!

First of all, I want to express my appreciation to Abe-san and Yuss-san and all the members of the Edge of Niigata for organizing such a wonderful event!
As a foreigner, it is important for me to get acquainted with the traditions and customs of Japan and Japanese people. Understanding and successful communication with locals is based on two important pillars: knowledge of history and right perception of cultural norms. But as in the common rule about “three points of contact” you will need a third pillar which is a direct participation in cultural events with the locals in order not only to be a bystander and observe customs from the outside but to be an active participant inside. This sake lecture and tasting is one of those events which can help you to meet new friends and get acquainted with unique traditions of Japanese people. It was a day full of new experiences, knowledge and fun for every participant. We had an opportunity to learn about different types of sake, how they are made and how to distinguish them between each other and what additional foods you can eat in combination with any particular type of sake. By the end of the event everyone received gifts from Edge of Niigata (and I am not going to tell what it was exactly, so to encourage you to attend the next event). Thank you so much and continue such a wonderful work!
