FREE FACEBOOK LIVE EVENT

Deep snowfalls created time during the year where farming and other industry was difficult. From the ancient times, food was scares and movement limited. Therefore, people had to come up with something to do during these “off” seasons.
In Niigata one of these blossomed crafts was fabric making.
Different types of textiles and techniques are used through out the area. These techniques have had a chance to be perfected due to a priceless gift – time. Time during the winter and time over the centuries.
During this tour we will tell you the history and the creative process that is still practiced to this day. Prepare to have your world completely re-stitched!
